Albania is a small but incredibly varied country in the Balkans, with everything from Ottoman-style towns and ancient ruins to mountain scenery and beautiful beaches along the Adriatic and Ionian coasts.

Its capital, Tirana, is colourful and full of energy, while places like Berat, Gjirokastër, Butrint and the Albanian Riviera show just how much there is to see beyond the city.

Best Time to Visit:

Spring & Summer (April to June) and Autumn/Fall (September to October), when the weather is warm but not too hot for sightseeing. If you’re visiting for the beaches, July and August are the hottest and liveliest months, but they’re also the busiest.
